As a Chef I love this place. The selection is always phenomenal. It gets pricey real quick though if you shop like me. Everyone should check it out.
Located off I91 exit 9 next door to Target.
So I called Ferraro’s this morning for green peppers. We buy a few dozen large, green bell peppers and make stuffed peppers and freeze them. I called Ferraro‘s for a price as Aldi‘s didn’t have any. The gentleman switched me to a female who was in produce, and I was hung up on. After five minutes on the phone, I was a little bit perturbed. I decided to give them one more chance and called back again got the same old gentleman and he told me the price was $1.49 per pound so I told him I’m coming right down got there in about a half an hour walked in and they were $1.89 a pound. I tried to talk to somebody in the store and they said many people answer the phone. I purchased a small amount, then called from my car in the parking lot and got the same guy. He said he thought they were on sale, but never bother to check then question that I would drive almost a half an hour just for peppers. Then hung up on me I’m done with Ferraro’s!
Let's face it, Ferraro's has always been number 1 in this area for meats. Beef, pork, chicken, all of it. You won't find a better price and better quality anywhere in the local area. Have been going to Ferraro's since I was a kid in gun wavin' New Haven with my parents. Nice, clean store in North haven now
during the week before Christmas I had a Doctors appointment so was in New Haven and Hadn't been to the N haven store and while I typically wouldn't Go to N Haven I decided I'd go and also stop in to BJ's and renew my card there as membership had been discounted so I went into Ferraro's Market and did some looking around was looking for Maine Lobster Tails as advertised in the Holiday flyer I didnt find them so I asked at the counter and sure enough They had the size I was looking for and My purchase was made Awesome!!
Good prices on cheap cuts like chicken legs/thighs and sausages, but their steaks are cut thin, the beef ribs I bought were mostly bone, and the quality of most of the pork I've bought has been below supermarket quality at barely a cheaper price. Ferraro's used to be a place to get a good deal on decent meat but both the competitive prices and quality have worsened over the years to the point where I'll just shop the sales at the big chains and get actual decent quality stuff.
What a great experience. As busy as the store was as people prep for the holidays, I found all of the staff so helpful, friendly and full of the holiday spirit. It turned what could have been a harrying experience into one that was in keeping with"tis the spirit". Thanks.
Meats are of basic quality and no grass fed grass finished meats. Prices are no better than other places to get meat but have worse hours of operation. The only bright spot is the rind on Bacon BUT be careful as I was charged the much higher price of rindless bacon. So you need to keep an eye out for them overcharging you.
Ferraro's has always been my favorite place since New Haven Thanksgiving lasagna was horrible and even smelled bad the roast beef that I bought and the lasagna went in the trash pale wasted
